I cannot turn My Back towards S R I G U R U G R A N T H S A H I B

The Holy Child reverentially disclosed to his elder brother that as Sri Guru Granth Sahib was placed in the house confronting him, he could not turn his back towards that side.

. . .Later he fully realised what this innocent child was uttering then, he meant in letter and spirit and He would not turn his back towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib for the whole of his life.

Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj was a tender child of about six years of age. One day it so chanced that he was asked to fetch the butter milk (Lassi) to his elder brother Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji, busy ploughing the fields. On seeing his brother S. Bhagat Singh Ji stopped ploughing and sat down under a tree to drink the lassi. He lovingly asked the Holy Child to meanwhile carry on with the plough.

Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj started with the plough and when he reached the other end, he stood still there and did not turn about. After finishing lassi, Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji, amazed at sudden stoppage, walked up to Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj, still facing the other side. He enquired from Babaji the reason for stopping there and not turning about to continue further.

The Holy Child reverentially disclosed to his elder brother that as Sri Guru Granth Sahib was placed in the house confronting him, he could not turn his back towards that side. Sardar Bhagat Singh was astonished and wonderstruck at the Holy Child's answer. He had seen him seated cross legged like a born Tapasavi and Sanyasi on the raised edge of a deep well only a year back and now he confronts another miracle of unparalleled faith and devotion of the peerless Holy Child towards the Highest of the High and the Greatest of the Great Jagat Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Later he fully realised what this innocent child was uttering then, he meant in letter and spirit and He would not turn his back towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib for the whole of his life.

Respected Sadh Sangat Ji, can you just cite one example in the whole of the known spiritual history till to-date, where a born Divinity has set such wondrous and miraculous examples of perfection and excellence in adoring the Guru to the extent displayed by Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj.

Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj was born Avtar with His Consciousness of Sovereign Majesty of Sri Guru Granth Sahib fully awake from His very birth and tender age. Dawn of rare Divine Light at the time of His Sacred Birth, his sitting cross-legged like a born Tapasavi in deep Samadhi on the narrow raised edge of a deep well at the tender age of five, and His proclamation as a child of only six years that He can not turn his back towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib only indicates that a True Gurmukh was born on this Mother Earth and that he breathed only the spirit of Sri Guru Granth Sahib from his very infancy.

Although Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj was most unconcerned with the world and most unattached to it yet Mahan Baba Harnam Singh Ji Maharaj desired Him to spread the Glory of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. He instructed Him to raise aloft the Banner of Service, Love and Worship of Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Through the Grace of Baba Harnam Singh Ji Maharaj, Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj established the Supremacy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib over and above everything else and showed to the world the glorious path of cultivation of exclusive love for Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Such was the Eternal Glory of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, so wonderfully deep rooted in the sanctuary of the heart of Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj and so shines the Eternal Glory of Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj Himself at the Pinnacle of All Known Spiritual Glory. Gurmukh means that holy person whose face is always turned towards the Guru and Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj proved beyond an iota of doubt that Gurmukh's face is always turned towards his Guru physically, mentally and spiritually.

One is reminded of 'Unique Labour of Love' undertaken by our Most Adorable and Beloved Satguru, Sri Guru Amar Das Ji, in this context.
